Echoes through the years

Allison: “I have a friend whose son was killed in Gulf War 1
and the words are written as though from her son to another
soldier telling them how his mother suffered.”
The politician’s speech
Rang round her head like empty bells
Not strong enough to reach
The truth her story cannot tell
The propaganda war
Brought atmospheric highs and lows
Until I closed the door
And then she didn’t want to know
Make her safe and shield her eyes
It’s not her place to sacrifice
For when a love is lost
How can you start to count the cost?
Echoes through the years
You are here to save the day
As though I didn’t go away
Facing all my fears
Chances are it won’t be you
I was thinking that way too
The photographic glare
The memory of our last goodbye
The people came to stare
And so she thought she couldn’t cry

The Chocolate Madonna
Close your eyes and she’s upon ya
She’ll strip you of your honour
Yeah……
Ain’t talking no religion
Unwrap with smooth precision
A velveteen collision
Yeah………
She’ll comfort you
With sensual pleasure
Be your best friend,
She will tempt you sure
And when you’re done
With forbidden treasure
She’ll make you ache for more…..
She’s the purple cladded lady
Won’t know the meaning maybe
Melt your mind and drive you crazy
She’s the oral courtesan
Give you pleasure while she can
Lick the fingers on your hand
Yeah…….
She’ll comfort you
With sensual pleasure
Be your best friend
She will tempt you sure
And when you’re done
With forbidden treasure
She’ll make you ache for more…..
Ain’t no doubt

The time has come you gotta cover your tracks
Cause those days are gone now when we could all relax
You find yourself on a one way street
Everybody you meet trying to find some relief
All the smiles replaced by empty eyes
And the fat cats talking like they’re all surprised
Ain’t no doubt, ain’t no doubt there’s no going back
Hands in their pockets holding on to their change
Any day now the fat lady’s gonna sing
And the words we hear are all in self defence
Talking in a language we don’t understand
Pointing their fingers trying to pass the blame
The government men paying to hide the shame
There ain’t no doubt, ain’t no doubt there’s no going back
Yeah Yeah there ain’t no doubt
Where do we go, where do we go from here?
And we all believe we can find a way out
Will they listen to our voices when we start to shout?
Are they too obsessed by their own importance?
And they just ignore they were chosen to guide us
All the empty promises on the campaign trail
Cause they’re free from consequences when they fail
There ain’t no doubt, ain’t no doubt there’s no going back
Yeah Yeah there ain’t no doubt, ain’t no doubt
Yeah Yeah where do we go
Yeah Yeah there ain’t no doubt, ain’t no doubt
Yeah Yeah where do we go, where do we go from here?
So are you gonna fall ?
Or are you gonna fight?
Is your future over ?
Is your future bright?
Cynical Twist

Changed my shirt gonna change my shoes gonna change my image till I look good • Is my hair too long? Is my skin too pale? Have I got it right? Only time will tell • I’ve been trying too hard trying to work things out, well it seems I’m wrong when I open my mouth • Do I turn the corner? Go straight ahead? Do I listen to reason? Or pretend I’m dead? • Am I stuck in a rut? Do I just give in? Do I roll with the punch? Take it on the chin? • Do I come out fighting? Stand as tall as I can, do I listen to myself? Do I listen to the man? • Am I chasing something that doesn’t exist? It’s a complex story with a cynical twist!
Is the light in the tunnel gonna blind my eyes? Or when I reach the light will I realize that the fears I’ve had • That have held me back were my imagination or maybe the lack? • Is my confidence at an all time low? Is it written in my face so the world could know? • Does my smile deceive? Can I pull it off? Can I walk the walk? Can I talk the talk? • Can I prove to myself that I’m worth the risk? Can I prove to myself I’m better than this? • Have I listened too long to the disbelievers? When the truth be told they’re just underachievers • Do I bow to the pressure? Or can I resist? It’s a complex story with a cynical twist!
So What

Just when things were getting better
The worm decides to turn
You think it only takes a letter
Believe me i’ve heard every word
You had your little indiscretion
So spare me from your reminiscing yeah
I ain’t gonna go back down that road, no no
Well you’re wrong
If you think that you still turn me off and on
I’ve grown strong
I’ve had time enough to cleans you from my soul
And if you think i’m being cold
Well so what
If your life sucks
Down on your knees
Well i bet you feel you can’t get up
Well so what
Thats just tough
How does it feel d’you think i never felt it first
To think that i could reconsider
Forgive your fall from grace
Excuse me while i check my mirror
Does it say stupid written on my face
Well you’re wrong
… …
Well, I gave you enough of me
you took everything I had
you left my heart to bleed
And now you’re back knocking on my door
but you ain’t convincing me
you see, the answer’s still the same
